At this time a subscription to our magazine does not include full access to our online content.
Unlike other recipe resources out there, we don’t accept any sort of advertising. We know that our readers rely on us for unbiased reviews and we believe accepting advertising would stand in the way of that mission. As you may already know, America’s Test Kitchen is made up of dozens of incredibly talented test cooks, who exhaustively test every recipe we publish. That’s what makes our recipes so great! We know that charging for recipes is unusual, but we believe our content and our unbiased reputation are worth it, and we like to think our fans agree.
With a membership to our website, you get benefits you don’t get from a magazine subscription. Online members can access recipes going all the way back to the first issue of Cook’s Illustrated magazine, or see episodes of America’s Test Kitchen from our very first season. You can easily access related content when viewing a recipe, create a shopping list, view pre-made menus for all sorts of occasions, and save your favorite recipes for easy access later.
We also offer the ability to register for free on both AmericasTestKitchen.com and CooksCountry.com. Registrants can access recipes and episodes from the two most current seasons of both of our shows for free online. And if you want access to older content, but still aren’t sure about paying for recipes, you can always try us out free for 14 days. Simply visit us at CooksIllustrated.com, AmericasTestKitchen.com, or CooksCountry.com, and click “Start Free Trial.”

America’s Test Kitchen Radio is a nationally syndicated radio show aired on NPR, hosted by Christopher Kimball and Bridget Lancaster of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country. The show features call-in Q&As from fans, wine tastings, interviews with influential people from the world of food, and more. America’s Test Kitchen Radio presents the exciting stories, history, and characters of the food world, in a way previously unexplored by our other shows.
America’s Test Kitchen Radio is absolutely free to listen to! Anyone can listen to the most recent episode by visiting the America’s Test Kitchen homepage, here. Registered listeners can listen to our entire archive of older episodes, plus access featured recipes, taste tests, and equipment ratings. Registering just takes a moment, and doesn’t cost a thing.

Once you register your email address you can select 'Watch Our Show' in the top navigation bar, Browse by Episodes, and select from the 2 most current seasons.
The most current seasons of America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country are available to all viewers. If you want access to expired content from all previous seasons we offer a 14 Day Free Trial that might get you interested in a yearly membership.
If you’d like to sign up to test recipes for Cook's Illustrated or Cook's Country, you can find links on each website's homepage. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page where it reads "Be a Recipe Tester." (On CooksCountry.com, be sure to first click on the “Current Issue” link below the Magazine information near the bottom of the page before scrolling down.)
How it works: There are ten panels of recipe testers for each magazine, and each panel receives an e-mail with a recipe and a survey about once per month. Each tester makes the recipe, then spend 5-10 minutes filling out the survey, letting us know if you would make the recipe again, if you followed the recipe as written, were there any instructions that were difficult to understand, etc. We ask testers to complete the survey within two weeks of receiving it, however if there is ever a recipe you’re not interested in, or if you just don’t have time, you can feel free to simply ignore the email.
We know that for many of our fans, special dietary needs play a big role in your choices in the kitchen. We also know that there are a lot of resources out there who specialize in specific diets. At America’s Test Kitchen, however, we have one goal: to make great tasting food. We know our fans will pick and choose from our recipe collection to make the choices that are right for them, and that not all of our recipes are right for everyone.
Providing detailed nutritional information is a complicated and exacting science, and not our area of expertise. And just like with our recipes, we believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right! However, we also know that staying healthy is important to our fans! With that in mind, we’ve come out with a handful of titles that focus on cooking lighter:
Comfort Food Makeovers: http://americastestkitchen.buysub.com/homepage/comfort-food-makeovers.html
The America’s Test Kitchen Healthy Family Cookbook: http://americastestkitchen.buysub.com/best-sellers/the-america-s-test-kitchen-healthy-family-cookbook-bks.html
Cook’s Country magazine also includes a “Recipe Makeover” column that focuses on taking the guilt out of some of our favorite recipes, and includes nutritional information.
When we publish a recipe, we test again and again to make sure that the ingredients, the texture, the cook time, and countless other factors all come together seamlessly to create a recipe that is as close to perfect as we can get it. We don’t recommend making any changes to our recipes, simply because once the recipe is altered, we can’t promise that it will give you the perfect results we know you’re looking for. You should always feel free to experiment in your kitchen! However we hope you understand that once you veer away from our tried and true recipes, we can’t guarantee the results.
We would love to hear from you! You can call our toll-free number, 855-34-COOKS, and leave a message with your cooking questions. You could be featured as a caller on our radio show and have your questions answered by host Christopher Kimball. Please leave your name, location, and phone number. If your question is chosen, we will call you back within a few weeks.

For those ready to make a more significant commitment to their culinary education, our In-Depth Courses are based on the professional classes offered to students at culinary schools. These courses will take your skills to the next level by teaching you to master the fundamental techniques that will help you enjoy a lifetime of good cooking.
Recipe Lessons explain how the recipe works, warn you about potential missteps, and show you the entire process—from the first prep step to serving. Depending on the lesson you choose, recipes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to five hours to prepare and cook from start to finish.
Technique Lessons, like Mexican Classics, Hearty Grains, and Best Chicken Soups are single-subject lessons that offer a focused experience for a student with a specific passion or interest. Students spend anywhere from four to five hours on each section of the lesson, including cooking time.
Cooking Basics help students gain confidence in the kitchen and achieve greater success with recipes by reviewing topics like food safety, stocking your pantry, and how to measure ingredients.

An Instructor-Led membership also gives access to the same full catalog of content as our self guided membership; however, you’ll also benefit from access to our test kitchen instructors, who can provide you with personalized learning plans, answer your questions, guide you through material, and give feedback on your assignments.
